Don’t mind if I do.
Normally when in Japan I like to seek out the smaller, cosy little tucked away cafes but sometimes you just have to duck in somewhere nearby for a caffeine/sugar fix right?
HARBS is a coffee and cake chain found all over Japan (and elsewhere) – 32 shops and counting! When shopping in the Kyoto Daimaru Department store (on Shijo Dori near Karasuma Dori ) it is a really easy mid-shop pitstop.
The quality cakes are always fresh and the service is as sweet as the ingredients. Having said that – this trip I tried a cheesecake tart with a very subtle sweetness and didn’t feel too overindulgent. On the other hand – take a peek at their delicious, totally naughty, German Chocolate Walnut Torte, from a previous trip HERE.
Next time you are in the downtown shopping area why not check out HARBS.
For the record they also do some savoury items for lunch too – but it’s all about the cake for me!
